Waiting Room Gallery
800 N. Alameda Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Developed by ArtCenter students and Data Vandals with Metro Art, the temporary exhibition combines ecological data from the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy with imaginative student projects envisioning more sustainable futures. The work demonstrates how thoughtful design and planning support coexistence across the region.

LA on the Move brings attention to the region’s remarkable biodiversity and the role urban species play in maintaining balance.

This temporary exhibition uses data visualization to spotlight five familiar inhabitants—the coyote, mountain lion, red-tailed hawk, monarch butterfly, and California kingsnake—as they navigate neighborhoods in search of food, shelter, and safety. The presentation invites visitors to recognize the connections between human choices and ecological well-being, from riding transit to selecting pollinator-friendly plants. Each action contributes to healthier communities for both people and animals.

The exhibition features select student projects from a Designmatters (the College's social innovation department) class with Data Vandals. LA on the Move is also part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, a Getty initiative exploring intersections of creativity and scientific inquiry.
