STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD WINNER CHENG CHI SUPPORTED THE SUCCESS OF OTHER STUDENTS

“Our thriving community will continue to grow and bring us closer together,” said Student Leadership Award winner Cheng Chi (BS 22 Environmental Design) during his speech at Spring 2022 Graduation.

As a leader at ArtCenter, Chi supported the success of other students—both in person and remotely—with knowledge, passion, empathy and insight. Having already studied art and interior design, Chi worked as a Teaching Assistant at the College no less than three times. He encouraged and strengthened bonds of human connection among his ArtCenter classmates.

Chi’s personal pursuit to seek a harmonious way to live in the world while preserving the planet was deeply reflected in his ArtCenter work. Chi’s sustainability-based projects, including WeTree, were recognized in on-campus exhibitions and off-campus competitions and design expos.

Chi inspired students, faculty and staff with his firm belief that equality, solidarity, kindness and a willingness to help one another are essential to ArtCenter’s community.
