Before crossing ‘The Pond’ in 1990, I spent 16 years working in London ad-agencies working on everything from EMI records at CDP, with the likes of Ridley Scott and Charles Saatchi wandering the agency halls, to British American Tobacco.

CDP become known worldwide for creating smart, engaging commercials with large doses of English wit, to multi-national corporate clients DHL, Black and Decker and Seiko.

Persuaded by a good friend and New York ad-agency boss in London to continue my career as an advertising art director on legendary Madison Avenue, I moved to New York City. Along the way I collected several fancy titles and awards, but, deep in my heart I’m an art director and passionate about making commercials—commercials that are pertinent, sometimes provocative, most of all, hard to ignore.

After six years in New York I was recruited for a large LA ad-agency to oversee the creative output on Farmers Insurance and on the oldest agency-client relationship in the country, Sunkist.

Captivated and inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of the Golden State I opened my own ad-agency, Inferno Advertising, working with the likes of Jerry Bruckheimer, Norman Lear and Dino De Laurentiis for our client The Producers Guild of America. It was Hollywood after all. We also had private equity investment company Platinum Equity as a client, rated # 22 by Forbes.

I owe my creative career to teachers who took me under the wings, nurtured me and pointed me into the world of advertising, on what has to be one of the world’s greatest professions. To be teaching at ArtCenter is to come full circle, allowing me to pay my debt of gratitude back to those teachers by igniting passion for creativity in advertising film to a whole new generation of students.

For fun in my spare time I sit on the Association of Independent Commercial Producers student commercials awards judging committee.
