Biography

Melissa Liu is a PhD candidate in Sociocultural Anthropology at the University of Washington, Seattle. She holds an MA with Honors in Medicine, Science & Technology Studies from the University of California, Irvine, where she focused on music therapies for individuals with dementia. She earned her BA with High Distinction in Anthropology from Berkeley.

Melissa was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship for a proposed project on the design of a dementia village. She was awarded a second NSF fellowship through the Neuroethics Thrust of the Center for Neurotechnology, an NSF Engineering Research Center.
