Entertainment Design

A native Californian and Art Center graduate, Eric Merrell has gained attention for his paintings, particularly desert environments like Joshua Tree and the Salton Sea. His nocturnes of these remote places comprise a large part of his oeuvre, and he was the focus of a short film Nocturnes: Paintings by Eric Merrell, directed by Alec Ernest for the Los Angeles Review of Books. He is the recipient of two residencies, the Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency (2009) and the Mojave National Preserve Artist Foundation (2019). He has had solo exhibitions in New York City and Los Angeles, and has exhibited in the Masters of the American West at The Autry in Los Angeles, the Coors Western Art Exhibition in Denver, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, and at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles.
