Biography
Aaron Smith is a graduate of ArtCenter. His paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York and in group shows at galleries and museums nationwide including Laguna Art Museum, Frye Art Museum and Museum of South Texas. He was the first Artist in Residence at the J Paul Getty Museum. Smith's figurative work deals with the performative aspects of gender, proposing a more playful, and self-determined expression of identity. Since 2019, in addition to his studio practice, Aaron has been the co-owner/curator of HeyThere Projects, a gallery and retail space in Joshua Tree CA.
