Biography

Jean-Pierre Geuens holds a Ph.D. in Critical Studies from the University of Southern California as well as a M.A. and B.A. in Film Production from the University of California Los Angeles. Prior to that he studied at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinématographiques in Paris, France and at Brussels University in Belgium.

He is the author of Film Production Theory (SUNY Press). He also wrote chapters for The Oxford Handbook of Sound and Image in Digital Media, Hollywood: Recent Developments and Film Quarterly Forty Years: A Selection and essays published in Cineaction, Film Criticism, the Journal of the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Arts, Quarterly Review of Film and Video, and Spectator.

In addition to Art Center, he has taught at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles, the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle et des Techniques de Diffusion in Brussels, Belgium, Los Angeles City College, the University of North Texas and the University of Southern California
