The exhibition features a selection of legendary L.A.-based typographer and printer Vernon Simpson's (1910–2001) specimen sheets, photographs and other type-related works.

Vernon Simpson Loves Type! Features a selection of Simpson’s specimen sheets, photographs and other type-related works (including a Men of Modern Mathematics history chart he set for the Eames Office), curated by HMCT Getty Marrow intern Rosemary Brantley. Brantley also worte an article on Simpson to accompany the exhibition.

A major portion of the exhibition is dedicated to works Simpson typeset for renowned L.A. designers including April Greiman and Tracey Shiffman.

Vernon Simpson (1910–2001) was a legendary typographer and printer who set type by hand for artists and designers like Gere Kavanaugh, Robert Rauschenberg and Ellsworth Kelly.

Upon his retirement in the 1980s, five philanthropists acquired Simpson’s wood and foundry type collection (one of the largest in the country) and donated it to the College, making possible the establishment of Archetype Press—the educational facility that continues to introduce students to analog typography.
