Baby Ink Twice: Letterpress Posters by Dafi Kühne

Exhibition at HMCT South Campus Gallery, ArtCenter College of Design

The Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography [HMCT] at ArtCenter College of Design presents Baby Ink Twice: Letterpress Posters by Dafi Kühne, January 4 through March 15, 2022 at the HMCT South Campus Gallery.

Dafi Kühne is a letterpress printer, graphic designer and typographer based in the Swiss Alps. Kühne studied at the Visual Communications Department of Zürich University of the Arts. Along with digital means, he works with letterpress printing presses, foundry metal and wood type, laser-cut, and other materials. His designs fuse modern means with the century-old tradition of letterpress printing to create a new vocabulary for communicating through type and form in a truly contemporary way. Never retro, his work is a clever response to the search for new possibilities of graphic expression. Borrowing its title from Kühne’s studio in Näfels, Switzerland, Baby Ink Twice showcases a comprehensive selection of commissioned and self-initiated posters from the HMCT Archive.

To visit the HMCT South Campus Gallery in person, please schedule an appointment via squarespace. Note that proof of COVID-19 vaccination in advance is required for campus access.

ArtCenter College of Design’s HMCT South Campus Gallery is located at 950 South Raymond Avenue in Pasadena, CA 91105. For more information, visit hmctartcenter.org, or contact hmct@artcenter.edu.
