Su Mathews Hale is the CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Su Mathews Hale Design.

Thriving at the intersection of graphic design and brand strategy for over two decades, Mathews Hale effectively harnesses the power of design to solve even the most enigmatic business challenges. With her warm personality, unwavering composure and highly intuitive leadership style, she is lauded for being an inspiration to work with. Her thoughtfulness combined with her talents have attracted a breadth of notable clients, including eBay, Samsung, Citibank, Walmart, Disney, Hawaiian Airlines, Hyatt, Taco Bell and Hershey's.

A former senior partner and creative director in design at Lippincott, Mathews Hale spearheaded multiple global projects pushing the boundaries of brand creation and identity development. She served as creative director on the famed Walmart rebranding—a large-scale repositioning and revitalization engagement that contemporized the retail giant while maintaining its rich heritage. She also led her team to a refreshed brand identity of eBay that signaled strategic changes throughout eBay Marketplaces and a cleaner, more contemporary experience.

A frequent speaker and design judge, Mathews Hale was featured as a "Symbol Master" by AIGA and was selected by Graphic Design USA as one of the 2013 "People to Watch." Her work has been published in numerous publications and award programs. She is past President Emeritus of AIGA, one of five women to hold the position in the organization's 100-year history.

Mathews Hale holds a BFA in graphic communication and an associate degree in advertising design, both from The Fashion Institute of Technology. She joined the ArtCenter Board of Trustees in 2017.
