BIOGRAPHY

Phil van Allen is an interaction designer whose work ranges from the practical to the speculative. In his research, van Allen is exploring animism as a new paradigm for interaction in the ecosystems created by the Internet of Things. He also is the creator of NTK (netlabtoolkit.org), an open source toolkit that makes IoT project sketching and production simpler and faster for novices, designers, researchers and entrepreneurs to integrate hardware, media and interactive behaviors. In the past, van Allen has been a recording engineer, software developer, digital studio founder, and researcher.
