ACX Kids class Fundamentals of Drawing teaches children technical and creative skills

In the ACX Kids class Fundamentals of Drawing, taught by artist and ArtCenter alum Vanya Horvath (BFA 14 Fine Art), students develop a solid foundation in technical drawing skills and creative expression.

They become familiar with techniques using graphite, charcoal, Conté crayons, pastel and ink, and develop their understanding of line, shape, proportion, value and composition through technical exercises and abstract thinking.

“Teaching this class, I employ a blend of structured instruction, open-ended exploration and experimentation,” says Horvath.

Horvath’s own acrylic and oil paintings explore the relationship between the figure and its environment, and she also draws inspiration from nature.

In Fundamentals of Drawing, Horvath offers students one-on-one guidance and provides age-appropriate challenges through live demonstrations and a fun atmosphere.

“Children have the opportunity to work independently, discover new techniques, engage in group discussions, and express their unique artistic perspectives,” she says.
