Art Center College of Design | Pasadena, California | Learn to Create. Influence Change.

Sarah Rose

Graduate Art

6th Term

Why did you choose to attend Art Center?
During the application process, I sat in on classes at Art Center as well as the other schools I was considering attending. Art Center's students impressed meŚthey could speak about their work intelligently. Plus, the size and quality of the faculty was a big draw.

What has been your favorite Art Center experience?
The opportunity to participate in so many shows, both group and solo. I know in a lot of MFA programs you don't have an opportunity to show until your final show.

What has been your greatest accomplishment so far at the College?
I hope that is yet to comeŚmy final show and thesis.

Have any guest speakers been particularly inspirational or thought provoking?
The Grad Art program has a guest lecturer series that offers a great opportunity to hear artists speak about their work. Students can request specific speakers.

What is the most challenging aspect of studying art and design?
The faculty here expects a lot from you, and can push you hard. They'll help steer you in the right direction, but you have to put in the hard work to get there yourself.

Have you joined any student organizations or taken part in campus activities since becoming an Art Center student?
Open studios are a great time to check out other students' work.

You are originally from Chicago. What surprised you most about Southern California?
It was important to me to study art in an area where I could readily see and experience contemporary art.

Rose graduated from Art Center in 2010.
