Mitos Corpus

2nd Term

What has been your greatest accomplishment so far at the College?
Seeing as I'm only in my second term here, I don't think I've really had a “greatest accomplishment” yet—but I have a piece up in the student gallery and am on the Dean's List.

What is the most challenging aspect of studying art and design at Art Center?
Art is subjective. There is no definite answer, just a “better” answer. Many of us struggle to understand our personal process of design while we are here. I think sometimes we consume ourselves in studying, making and designing—and forget about the outside world around us, where there are so many other things that could inspire us.

Describe a memorable project and the creative process involved, from conception to ideation to production.
We were asked to create a poster, based on a country and with a message behind the design. My message was about the tradition of Japanese whaling, and with my design I decided to mimic traditional Japanese woodblock of the Edo period. I tried executing it in Photoshop, and even took pictures of a Zen garden, but failed to come up with an image that resembled a woodblock. I ended up carving a woodblock for the first time!

Have you joined any student organizations or taken part in campus activities since becoming an Art Center student?
I haven't joined any groups yet, but I helped form a drop-in brainstorming/homework session for advertising students. I noticed the lack of interaction between different term students in our major, and what began as a place to do homework has become a place where advertising students can work together and critique each other's work.

What do you do when you are not in class or studying?
I like to jog around the Rose Bowl, which is just down the hill from Hillside Campus. Los Angeles and Pasadena have a lot to offer students. We just need to take the time to go experience what it has to offer.
