Art Center College of Design | Pasadena, California | Learn to Create. Influence Change.

5th Term

What has been your favorite Art Center experience?
Spending time with the people I have met here. The relationships that I've made here are definitely different than other relationships because we suffer together, succeed together and sometimes, just flat-out fail together.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned at Art Center?
To never fall in love with your ideas.

What has surprised you the most during your time here?
All the work that gets finished under pressure—I never really knew my own capabilities until I was stretched much further than I thought I could handle. I think that might be the only way to grow.

What has been your favorite class or project?
One of my favorite classes has been Ad and Propaganda taught by John Brumfield, which essentially is against the entire notion of advertising. The class made me realize that my calling, as John puts it, is to be a “crusader of truth.”

Have you found any faculty members to be particularly inspirational or thought provoking?
Mikio Osaki has taught me that in the end, it all comes down to how badly I want to reach a goal. I strongly believe that you can get whatever you want if you want it enough.

He has always reminded me that there is much more to life than advertising. Mikio is the most modest and trustworthy man I know, and it has been comforting to see that people can come out of the industry on top, yet remain untainted.

When you are not in school or studying, what do you like to do around L.A. or Pasadena?
I like to eat ice cream!
