Title: Director of Recruitment Programs

Department - Admissions

Type - Full-time staff


The Director of Recruitment Programs will create and implement strategic events for recruitment of prospective students to the undergraduate and graduate programs of Art Center College of Design. These will include events on and off campus. The Director will work with Art Center alumni to engage their assistance in recruitment activities. In alignment with the Collegeís strategic plan, the Director will initiate and implement a variety of programs to increase prospective student interest and enrollment from diverse students. The Director will work to bring students and families to campus as well as classroom groups, and will assist in other ways as needed, such as with projects and related programs as needed. The Director will be conversant with all programs and admissions policies to effectively execute the positionís responsibilities.


The Director of Recruitment Programs is responsible for a variety of creative programs focused on the recruitment of strong prospective students to the College. The goal is to attract students who are visually and academically gifted and who are from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities of the position include:

Recruitment Events ó develop and organize all Recruitment Events

  • On-campus events such as Open Houses, Portfolio Days, New Student Evenings, monthly on-campus events, on-line programs; out-of-town events for students in the U.S. and in other countries; and major-specific events or programs oriented toward certain audiences, such as our Public Programs students
  • Initiate programs based on recruitment strategies, programmatic decisions, arrangements for logistics, and contacts with speakers
  • Liaison with alumni or other industry speakers at events
  • Coordinate activities with other staff members and departments at Art Center
  • Events will include activities to increase prospective student interest in the College along with programs that encourage admitted students to attend
  • Measure the effectiveness of events through analysis of data pertaining to the outcome of the events
  • Develop visit programs, such as weekend events, for teachers or special groups of students
  • Focus will include both undergraduate and graduate programs †

Alumni Recruitment Programs ó create programs that will utilize Art Center alumni in both classic and innovative outreach programs

  • Activities might include organizing alumni to represent the College at college fairs; connecting prospective students with alumni; facilitating alumni to host or speak at events and other activities
  • Maintain alumni listing of those who can be contacted by prospective students
  • Implement and create systems by which to make programs viable and through which they can be maintained
  • Create yearly up-to-date reviews of activities, including developing new contacts of recently graduated alumni
  • Work closely with Alumni Affairs Office to assure coordination of initiatives and integration of efforts to utilize and reach out to alumni †

Diversity Recruitment Programs ó develop programs that attract and foster enrollment of a diverse population of students

  • These may include special tour programs; workshop programs with schools or community organizations; follow-up and communication programs with diverse groups of students to encourage applications; development of programs that foster mentorship with students enrolled in the Collegeís Saturday High and Art Center at Night classes
  • This may also include development of high school mentoring programs whereby Art Center students work with local art teachers in the classroom †

Group Tour Programs

  • Endeavor to further develop group tours of campus from schools or other arts organization, such as after-school academies †

General Admissions Assistance

  • Assist with office projects, such as follow-up programs, phone calling, and presentations as needed


  • Bachelorís degree required; Masterís degree preferred
  • Prior event planning or admissions experience required
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of digital systems, databases and ability to work with data and analysis
  • Minimum of two yearsí experience working within an office setting, preferably within an educational or arts organization
  • Commitment to the importance of the visual arts
  • Ability to be self-directed while working within a collaborative environment
  • Ability to conceive of and implement strategic programs
  • Must have vehicle, valid driverís license and proof of current insurance
