Title: Educational Technology Specialist

Description

Art Center College of Design seeks a versatile Educational Technology Specialist who is passionate about helping faculty select and master the appropriate technologies to enhance student learning and achieve pedagogical goals. The successful candidate thrives on the challenges of building solutions for the teaching and learning environment, embracing both existing and emerging technologies. S/He will help provide design, development, and management of educational technologies that best support arts and design education. S/He will provide direct technical support to faculty and students utilizing various technologies and digital media in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. S/He will also collaboratively participate in the professional development and training of faculty in the uses of instructional technologies, such as Learning Management System (LMS), web conferencing, lecture capture, digital asset production and management (images, video, audio), and presentation tools.†

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide support and training for the integration of digital teaching and learning technologies into the curriculum in classroom, web-enhanced, and hybrid online courses
  • Develop effective online training materials for faculty, students, and staff to assist in best practices for and applications of various digital tools
  • Manage the front-end administration of learning management system(s) and other technologies for education
  • Assist faculty members and their TAs with beginning- and end-of-course LMS integration and organization each term
  • Track the online course development process, monitor ongoing courses, and collect adoption and usage data
  • Troubleshoot general educational technology issues, such as course and user management, via the Technology Help Desk ticketing system
  • Help coordinate, design, and lead a series of workshops, demonstrations, and individual face-to-face or remote training sessions for faculty and students
  • Remain current with emerging digital teaching and learning technologies, new products, methodologies, and pedagogy
  • Engage and support faculty in the integration of social media tools and emerging technologies
  • Engage regularly with various groups on campus and attend community meetings, such as new student and new faculty orientations, to introduce and facilitate the use of Art Center technology services to the community at large
  • Function as an integral liaison to peer departments, such as Application Services, Client Services, Network Services, A/V Media Support, Faculty Development Office, and Library as support for digital teaching and learning dictates

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelorís degree in Educational Technology or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience training and supporting faculty in higher education
  • Highly organized with excellent communication and customer service skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a creative team environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing and administering Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Canvas) and other commonly used educational technology tools such as blogs, wikis, and cloud storage solutions
  • Experience with classroom technology, web conferencing, multimedia applications, and authoring tools for instructional purposes
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology and its application to the enhancement of professional development and to the teaching and learning environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding service and support to faculty, students, and staff with varying degrees of technology comfort level
  • Understanding of best practice principles related to online learning and teaching
  • Ability to learn new technology and its application quickly; and support and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required †

Preferred additional skills:

  • Experience with Moodle and WordPress
  • Experience with HTML elements/web development, cloud computing, and mobile technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and working with multiple stakeholders
