Title: Film Facilities Coordinator

Description

The Film Facilities Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the safe operation of the Film Sound Stage, Production Room 113, and film shoots happening on the Hillside Campus, proper booking and reservations for the film departmentsí facilities, and ensuring students and instructors use our facilities safely and maintain our production facilities and equipment. †The Coordinator will also assist Film Department staff in other daily operations as required, including such diverse responsibilities as regularly updating the departmentsí online communications, and supervising grad show presentations three times a year.††

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Function as on-set supervisor during the setup, production and cleanup of motion picture and photographic productions, to ensure all best practices for safety and efficient filmmaking on the sound stage, room 113, and, as required, on location shoots on Art Centerís Hillside campus
  • Manage the scheduling and booking of the sound stage, the sound stage make-up room, lock up room, and room 113
  • Support students in using the sound stage and room 113ópresent demos on stage safety and procedures
  • Support other departments when they use the stage and equipment, and ensure that the stage and the equipment it houses are not damaged
  • Ensure that rules and policies of the film department are followed by all who use these facilities and equipment
  • Maintain the appearance of the sound stage, room 113, lock up room, and makeup room
  • Monitor inventory, on a daily basis, of our equipment, and ensure its proper usage on the sound stage, in room 113, and our hillside campus
  • Move and carry stage equipment, break up flats and trash, stencil and maintain signage, paint walls and cove, maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the stage and room 113, lock up room and sound stage makeup room, maintain and repair flats, etc.
  • Oversee and support Instructors and Students with check-in/check-out of equipment
  • Confirm that the LAT and Ahmanson theaters and all film department facilities remain clean and orderly
  • Maintain driveway access to stage; prevent materials from film shoots from accumulating
  • Maintain and update our various social media outlets and webpages on a daily basis
  • Support Production Supervisorís office with clerical tasks as may be needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelorís degree in film production or equivalent experience
  • 3Ė5 years experience in film production and/or commercial photo, and 1 year of customer service experience (post-production or office work experience is NOT relevant to this position)
  • Knowledge of motion picture lighting equipment
  • Knowledge of motion picture stage electrical systems and basic electrical repair
  • Knowledge of safety practices defined by State and film industry
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and faculty to ensure appropriate safety protocol is conveyed regarding usage of the sound stage and other facilities
  • Basic knowledge of word processing, social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, web services such as Wordpress, and e-mail
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
