The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), the grant-making arm of the National Archives, has awarded a grant of $51,450, renewing their support of Art Center’s Archives. The Archives were established in 2003 with a generous grant from The Getty Foundation, and the recent grant from the NHPRC will enable the retention of the assistant archivist position originally funded by them in 2005. With this second year of support, the assistant archivist will continue to help with the ongoing processing of institutional materials now housed in the Archives, as well as with the accessioning and appraisal of Art Center departmental records. The renewal grant from the NHPRC is a clear endorsement of the significance the Archives lends to the college and to the greater art and design community.
