Sam Creely

Graduate Media Design

Sam Creely is a poet, editor, bookmaker and educator living in Los Angeles. Their work engages anticolonial and queer methodologies, turning syntax against institutional systems of logic or sense. Their research in early modern textile history pursues questions about the implication of trade language in English lexical semantics and morphology.

Sam holds an MFA in Creative Writing from California Institute of the Arts and a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. They are co-founder of the All-Wash-Away Sacred Harp Singers of Los Angeles, a publication collective concerned with semiotic disaster, and teach in the Media Design Practices MFA program at ArtCenter College of Design.
