Alexis Disselkoen is a Los Angeles based artist who uses performance and installation to explore belonging. Striving to work around constructions of power that inform art production, viewership and participation she creates encounters that are participatory and directed by the people that are involved. Disselkoen aims to connect contemporary issues of identity and the scholarship of interpersonal relations. She graduated with an MFA from UC Irvine in 2011. Her work has been seen at the REDCAT, La Casita Cultural Center, Craft and Folk Art Museum and CicLaVia. She has been awarded numerous public art commissions and was the 2015 Metro's Through the Eyes of Artist, poster artist representing the neighborhood of Eagle Rock.
