Biography

Lan Yu is director of Graduate Industrial Design at ArtCenter College of Design, working closely with the Chair on curricular development and department initiatives. Prior to joining the Grad ID program, Lan worked to bring ArtCenter's Formula-E Race to China, which has grown year after year to now include more than 15 Chinese universities. Additionally, in 2014, she worked with ArtCenter to create and produce the very successful and ongoing Create Change forums held in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzou. Lan continues in this role as managing director of China Programs

Prior to ArtCenter, Lan was design lead and brand manager for Tsinghua Tongfang for almost a decade where she worked directly with the CEO and helped to create and develop numerous successful tech-based startup companies. As a design consultant, Lan has worked for companies such as Hero Entertainment, Bank of China, China Daily, Omnijoi Film, Xiaomi and Google.

Lan received her Bachelor of Industrial Design Degree from Beijing Institute of Technology in 2000 and is also a graduate of the GradID program, having received an MS Industrial Design from ArtCenter in 2012.
