After graduating with honors from ArtCenter, Rey Bustos (BFA Illustration 1989) worked as an illustrator for companies and magazines, and as a fine artist, where he was represented by the San Marino Gallery in Pasadena. Rey has been teaching since 1990 and is now considered one of the preeminent artistic anatomy teachers in the country. He is known for his lively and passionate lectures and his enthusiasm is very evident and contagious. Rey currently teaches at ArtCenter as an associate professor, the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, Kline Academy in Culver City, an online class with Computer Graphics Masters Academy (CGMA) and he has recorded online tutorials and a class in 3-D anatomy/ecorche’ with New Masters Academy. Among other painting and drawing classes, Rey teaches a class that he created, Imaginatomy; An Anatomical Approach to Animal and Character Development. He is being published by Design Studio Press, with an artistic anatomy book due to be released in April 2020.
