Gina Lawes is an accomplished Los Angeles-based artist with over 30 years of experience in animation and visual effects. Her artistic approach emphasizes visual storytelling through motion, color, lighting, and composition. An artist for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Gina has held several creative leadership roles, including Director of Cinematography and Lighting Supervisor for animated feature films, short-form animated series, and theme park attractions. She has made significant contributions both artistically and technically as a key artist for animated films at Disney Animation and DreamWorks Animation, as well as for visual effects at Disney and Sony Studios in senior and supervisory roles. In 2018, she was nominated for Outstanding Created Environment in an Animated Feature by the Visual Effects Society. Gina earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from CalArts and a Master of Science (MS) from the University of Denver. She also holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of South Florida. Since 2019, Gina has been teaching at ArtCenter College of Design, inspiring the next generation of artists and designers while cultivating a community of innovators.
