Art Center College of Design | Pasadena, California | Learn to Create. Influence Change.

Graduate Studies

Art Center offers graduate degrees through six distinct programs: Graduate Art, Graduate FilmGraduate Environmental Design, Graduate Industrial Design, MS/MBA Innovation Systems Design, Graduate Media Design Practices and Graduate Transportation Design.

Built on intensive studio practice and rigorous academic coursework, the Graduate Art program prepares artists of all genres to successfully enter the contemporary art arena. With complete creative freedom and experimentation as its hallmarks, the Broadcast Cinema program encourages filmmakers to invent new forms of programming and methods of storytelling.

The Graduate Film program believes powerful visuals, a compelling narrative, and good performances are the essential elements of great moviemaking. Students learn by doing in an immersive, rigorous, production-based curriculum taught by a faculty of accomplished industry professionals.

Practicing a systems-level methodology that balances the human, business and technological aspects of any challenge, Graduate Industrial Design program students create resilient business model-based opportunities.

We also offer a dual degree program with the Drucker School of Management, which results in an MS in Industrial Design from Art Center and the MBA from Drucker; this is the Innovation Systems Design Program.

By following their curiosity and developing new expertise, Media Design Practices students explore the future of communication within a context of cultural and technological change.
