Although Art Center does not have dormitories, we would like to assist you with your search for housing however possible.
Art Center's Off-Campus Housing Website
The Center for the Student Experience coordinates information regarding local housing and roommate options.
This resource is available for admitted and current students and includes a variety of living arrangements including rooms within homes, guest houses, apartments and houses for rent, as well as information about the utilities, amenities, available dates, rental costs and landlord contact information for each listing.
In addition, Art Center partners with the International Housing Placement Services, which offers students affordable housing in the homes of approved local families and individuals.
We will be happy to advise you on the neighborhoods of Pasadena and other nearby towns as you go over the listings. For questions regarding housing or to gain access to housing information, visit the Center for the Student Experience or email housing@artcenter.edu.
We also recommend that you check copies of the local newspapers, Pasadena Star-News and Los Angeles Times; local weeklies, Pasadena Weekly and L.A. Weekly; or check the following internet sites for apartment listings:

Universal Student Housing (USH)
USH is a reliable homestay program offering housing resources for international students pursuing their education in the United States. Both short term and long term housing is available, and transportation upon arrival to your arranged homestay family.
To apply go to www.usaish.com or call 1-866-900-4USH
USH is a program endorsed by Art Center, but is not a function of the College.
Housing Price Ranges
Housing prices vary a great deal depending on location and quality, but as a general rule, housing can be found within the following price ranges:
· 1 Bedroom in a house or apartment: $500-900
· Studio Apartment: $800-1,200
· 1 Bedroom Apartment: $900-1,400
· 2 Bedroom Apartment: $1,200-2,300
· 3 Bedroom Apartment or House: $1,900-2,500
* Due to the increasing cost of transportation, paying more for a room closer to Art Centers' campus may have financial advantages over paying less for housing accommodations farther away. It is important to begin your housing search as early as possible to have access to the most housing opportunities.
California Tenants' Rights
Questions regarding California tenants' rights may be addressed in a publication titled “California Tenants: A Guide to Residential Tenants' and Landlords' Rights and Responsibilities” printed by the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
You can check out The California Tenants Book online.
Housing Tips
1. Get it in writing! You should look over the premises and document in writing any agreements made between you and your landlord for repairs or cleaning that need to be done prior to move in. If you are renting a room in a home, have the owner put any house rules or stipulations in your lease.
2. Take Pictures! Before you move any of your belongings into your new home, take pictures (documenting carpet condition, appliances, windows and window coverings, etc.). This is a good way to protect yourself when you move out. Provide a set for your landlord and keep one set for yourself.
3. Additional Tips: For additional tips on housing and suggestions about dealing with roommates, bills, and rental agreements, please visit the Learning Center at move.com.
4. Public Transportation: If you will not have a car, ask landlords if their property is within walking distance to a 51/52 Pasadena ARTS Bus route stop. During the week, this bus route will drop you off/pick you up at both the Hillside and South Campus locations. For more information, check out the ARTS Bus Schedule
