Graduate Admissions

Art Center offers programs of graduate study leading to the Master of Fine Arts degree in Art, Film, Graphic Design and Media Design Practices. A Master of Science degree is offered in Industrial Design, Environmental Design, and Transportation Systems and Design. A dual degree program with the Drucker School of Management results in an MS in Industrial Design from Art Center and the MBA from Drucker; this is the Innovation Systems Design Program.

Applications for admission to the graduate program, and all materials, should be submitted to the Admissions Office, Art Center College of Design, 1700 Lida Street, Pasadena, CA 91103.

The faculty and chair of the specialty area make the evaluation and final admissions decision regarding each candidate. In the case of the dual degree program, a joint decision will be made by both institutions.

Graduate programs are normally six terms in length, with the exception of Film, which is a five semester program and Media Design Practices which offers a four term path of study for experienced designers. Completion of any graduate program is contingent on satisfying all course requirements.

International Students

Art Center welcomes international students and values cultural diversity in the classroom. All Art Center courses are conducted in English. Graduate applicants whose native language is other than English must score at least 100 on the Internet Based TOEFL (iBT) or 7 on the I.E.L.T.S. Scores must be sent directly from the testing service; institutional scores are not accepted. I.E.L.T.S. scores cannot be electronically downloaded by the College, and no institutional code is required.

In addition, the College may require minimum scores on each section. Visit www.TOEFL.org or www.ielts.org for testing dates and procedures.
