Discover the power and expressiveness of black-and-white photography. See how a composition without color can help the viewer focus on other aspects of the image, like its subject, texture, shapes and expression. We will discuss fundamental concepts of photography, such as lighting and composition, and work on fun projects covering different photography genres, including portraiture, nature, still-life, abstraction and landscape. You are free to use any digital capture system (e.g. cameras, iPods, smartphones, tablets) you’d like for the photo shoots we do during class. At the end of the class, each student will take home a personal digital gallery of their images.
