FanCon

by Aska Cheung

Members for fandoms often live in different cities, states, and continents. Connecting and having engaging conversations about their mutual interests might be difficult.

FanCon connects fans within a fandom together through conversations that remain in contexts of images. The ability to annotate on an image to talk and make references simulate the experience of talking and pointing at something in the same room with somebody. This allows fans to feel deeply connected with their fandom through expressive and authentic conversations.

MICRO-INTERACTION

Fancon provides users with a community-led experience, different from those of hosted live-streaming events and text-heavy real-time platforms such as Twitter.
