Perturbed

Class Name
Lab Thesis

Perturbed is a system made of three networked objects. The system is meant to be disturbed, provoked, and ultimately nurtured. A small bit of string presents itself through a hole in the table. When pulled, this string fights back, attempting to retreat into its hole. A struggle ensues as a user pulls on the string. Water is emitted from a second device in protest. It spits and spills, covering the table haphazardly with water. If undeterred, the user can push the system to its point of highest disruption. The third device, a latex balloon filled with water, announces the system’s disrupted state by violently pulsating. To calm the system, the user must pick up the balloon and hold it until the pulsating subsides to an acceptable level.
