VAX for ALL: Design to overcome

CARE is a mobile pop-up event intended to bring COVID vaccine resources to underserved communities. We learned from our collaboration with Liz Schwandt from Get Out The Shot LA and Dr. Nana Afoh-Manin from MyCovidMD that Black and Latinx communities face huge inequalities in vaccine access. Their pop-ups specialize in “heart-work” which is to deeply connect with the community and their issues to build trust with doctors and the vaccine. We discovered the fun and festive approach to vaccine pop-ups through our Draw Your Dream exercises with Dr. Nana. Our opportunity with CARE developed as a way to support underserved communities by building trust and providing comfort and warmth with CARE’s mobile medical pop-ups.
