Associate Provost, Online Education
Rosemarie Piccioni, Ed D is ArtCenter’s first ever associate provost of Online Education. In this role, she is leading the creative, strategic and academic vision for ArtCenter’s emerging online initiative. She oversees the Office of Digital Teaching and Learning, which is responsible for the College’s learning management system, instructional design and technology, and innovative/emerging educational technology. Additionally, she is responsible for continued oversight and development of the new Bruce Heavin Media Production Studio which was established to support online learning and create greater awareness of the College through this more accessible educational platform.
Piccioni has more than 25 years of experience leading the development of emotionally engaging, motivating, rich media learning environments. Her higher education experience includes launching the Penn State Video Learning Network and, as the director of UCLA Extension and UCLA Global Online’s teaching teams, charting the course for both synchronous and asynchronous online learning experiences for 3,000 students learning from more than 2,000 instructors in 50,000 online courses.
Her early career was in music education, developing and producing educational programming for The Philadelphia Orchestra. She went on to work at the Walt Disney Company, spearheading a number of new initiatives, including the educational programming for the inaugural launch of Disney Cruise Line’s the Magic, Wonder, and Castaway Cay. She also developed innovative online music education programming including “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra,” a Carnegie Hall Listening Adventure ®.
Piccioni holds a BS and MM in music education from Duquesne University and a M Ed and Ed D in instructional technology and media from Teachers College, Columbia University.
