Biography

A native of New York City, Ray Quirolgico is a passionate supporter of the arts. His first job was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and he is an avid fan of the performing arts. He earned degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Virginia, where he first got involved with campus life as an undergraduate leader. He earned a master’s of education degree from the University of Vermont, majoring in higher education and student affairs administration.

His campus work experience includes jobs in residence life/student housing, orientation, multicultural student services, student conduct, student activities, community service and service learning, campus health, and fraternity and sorority Greek life. He has worked at the University of California, Davis; Miami University; Occidental College; the University of San Francisco and Saint Louis University. He joined the staff of ArtCenter in 2014.

He has served on the editorial board of an academic journal, is a frequent presenter at meetings and conferences, and has been an elected leader in many different capacities in higher education associations. He has held adjunct faculty appointments and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in higher education, research methods, campus culture, and leadership and helped establish a graduate degree program in higher education leadership at the University of San Francisco.

He earned his doctor of education degree in organization and leadership from the University of San Francisco, and his cultural anthropology dissertation explored American higher education’s history and responses to the first 25 years of the AIDS pandemic.
