Community and Outreach Coordinator

Every position at ArtCenter plays an important part in carrying out the values, goals, strategic vision, and mission of the College. This includes diversity, equity, inclusion and culture.

Reporting to the Director of Career & Professional Development, this position provides marketing and outreach support to internal and external communities. The incumbent will proactively develop and implement strategies designed to increase engagement with industry partners to the college. This position is responsible for strategically identifying and cultivating relationships with industry and community partners and alumni.

Salary grade: 7

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, communications or related fields from and accredited college or university.
  • Minimum two years of experience in developing and managing communications
    strategies and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability with project management to manage events from conception through production.
  • Computer proficiency and experience in use of computer applications, database maintenance, social media tools and other web-based technology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, able to balance priorities, takes initiative, reliable and resourceful
  • Effective copywriting, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of priority, ability to shift to different projects and manage time effectively.
  • Sensitivity and ability to work with diverse groups and constituencies including students, alumni, faculty, administrators and industry partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, employing an entrepreneurial and creative mindset.
  • Display creativity, initiative, and proactive attitude in carrying out responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of potential career opportunities for artists and designers highly desirable, in
  • addition to sensitivity to their career aspirations.
  • Ability to collaborate with student designers to create marketing assets.
  • Proficient with Eventbrite, Constant Contact or other online marketing and social media tools.
  • Experience working in Higher Education


Essential Functions

Digital Marketing & Communications — 50%

  • Develop and manage a strategic approach to disseminate opportunities to students and alumni via a host of digital platforms including social media, print, email and other relevant communication approaches.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Department to ensure all materials and messaging adhere to the College’s brand identity, and to maximize efforts to promote events and outreach efforts.
  • Follow-up on inquiries and develop new partnerships with relevant professional communities for the college
  • Create greater visibility for ArtCenter and students within relevant professional communities.
  • Plan and implement marketing strategies for various events and programs for students, alumni, industry partners and community members.
  • Create e-mails, digital links, landing and splash pages to assist in direct marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate and execute e-mail campaigns, meeting deadlines, following timelines, and ensuring uniformity of content/messaging.
  • Collaborate with career and professional development staff to develop relevant and meaningful content.
  • Review and ensure quality of marketing distribution lists, consistently updating the employer database.
  • Communicate with industry partners on a regular basis to understand recruiting trends.
  • Interact with diverse groups and individuals, both internal and external, in delivering the services of the Career Development Office.
  • Utilize data to inform strategic and innovative marketing strategies.
  • Connect industry partners to institutional constituencies including educational partnerships, corporate relations and chairs as appropriate.

Event Management — 40%

  • Oversee the online recruiting system; serve as a point of contact for industry partners visiting ArtCenter.
  • Facilitate relationships between industry partners and the ArtCenter community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Responsible for managing career & professional development events, planning and coordinating guest visits, lunches, and conferences.
  • Plan and manage visits for a diverse group of visitors each term.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve events and activities to ensure strong engagement.
  • Attend and support various career & professional development programs.

Non-Essential Duties — 10%

  • Maintain memberships and active involvement in applicable professional organizations.
  • Represent the College and the Office of Career Development at professional organizations and meetings as needed.
  • Serve on educational or institutional internal committees as needed.
  • Represent the College and the Office of Career Development at professional organizations and meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Duty to Report

All employees who know or have reason to know of allegations or acts that violate ArtCenter’s Title IX Policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking shall promptly inform the Director, Title IX Compliance and Programs, or designee or the Associate Dean of Students or designee. Physical Demands and Working Environment

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. The position is eligible for flexible scheduling and can be performed, remotely, hybrid or required as a condition of employment.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions; extended periods of time viewing computer monitor; interactions with other individuals. Due to pandemic, will work from home as needed.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 20 pounds); to operate modern office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Ability to travel between campuses and to offsite locations. Regular and consistent attendance are required for most positions.

Vision: Must be able to have the visual capacity to perform activities such as preparing and reading reports, viewing a computer terminal and other normal office work with or without correction.

Hearing: Must be able to communicate effectively in the course of normal office communication or exchange ideas with or without correction.
