Kenneth Verosub has a broad interest in petroleum and has done extensive research on global oil reserves. Focusing his study on environmental magnetism, a new field of geophysics that uses the magnetic properties of soils and sediments as tracers of environmental and paleoclimate processes, Verosub analyzes samples taken from around the world including the earth’s oceans and several of its major seas and lakes. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching’s 1997 California Professor of the Year, Verosub also works in the fields of science education and geoarchaeology.
