About The Summit
The future of sustainability is happening at Art Center. The Sustainability Summits are a cornerstone of Art Center’s commitment to expanding the role of design in addressing key sustainability issues. By gathering some of the most innovative thinkers in design, business, government, science and beyond, we can find solutions and effect change.
The success of our first two Summits, Designing Sustainable Mobility held in 2007 and Systems, Cities & Sustainable Mobility in 2008, has been overwhelming—we’ve seen brilliant minds come together to plan the future of cities, automobiles and energy—and now we’re ready for the next installment.
Our third Summit, Expanding the Vision of Sustainable Mobility, will grow out of the previous two, taking a step back to broaden the scope of the conversation. In February 2009, we plan to see what we can learn from industries and organizations beyond the transportation and urban mobility realms. In addition to a cross-section of mobility-related experts, we will host visionary and strategic-minded leaders in other fields who can explain how they came to terms with ecological responsibility while creating or maintaining an economically compelling enterprise.
We believe that designers, with their ability to visualize and facilitate complex project agendas, will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary development of our future mobility. Art Center has a historic and international reputation in the design community, particularly in transportation design, and is an ideal place to discuss the challenging and profound changes that are required to keep our global economies moving. We are confident that new partnerships and ideas will emerge from this Summit, as they have from the previous two.
Join an international group of influential thinkers, industry executives, government leaders and entrepreneurs to explore how industries outside of the transportation and mobility fields approach sustainable mobility—and what their fresh, often unexpected perspectives can bring to the table.
