About UeBERSEE
UeBERSEE is German for "overseas". UeBERSEE stands for transatlantic connections and for a gateway to European cultural and stylistic influences. UeBERSEE is dedicated to storytelling by design in the realm of culture and business.

Among the firm’s award-winning works are a World's Fair pavilion, artistic light installations, large-scale public exhibitions, dynamic showrooms and media experiences for international shows.

UeBERSEE consists of the founding partners Nik Hafermaas (creative direction) and Boris von Bormann (business development and marketing). In-house designers team up with an international network of acclaimed design specialists of various disciplines, according to the individual project brief.

About the Design of the Installation
The installation of “Open House: Architecture and Technology for Intelligent Living” at the Art Center South Campus was conceived by the German-American design firm UeBERSEE , led by creative principal Nik Hafermaas, an internationally renowned exhibition designer, and the department chair of graphic design at Art Center.

Using gigantic vertical and horizontal fabric banners, UeBERSEE created a textile architecture to transform the vast volume of the Wind Tunnel. Together with a directed illumination scheme, the textile architecture creates dramatic contrasts in scale between the architects’ models and the venue, and provides a clear structure for the different chapters of the exhibition.
