Art Center College of DesignArt Center College of Design is an internationally recognized school of art and design located in Pasadena, California. An independent, nonprofit, four-year college, Art Center offers a bachelor of fine arts or bachelor of science degree in advertising, environmental design, film, fine art, graphic design, illustration, photography, product design, and transportation design. Art Center also offers graduate programs in film, fine art, industrial design, media design, and art theory and criticism. The college was founded in 1930 by a young advertising man, Edward A. "Tink" Adams, who saw growing opportunities for designers in publishing, advertising, and industrial design but found that no existing school was preparing designers for the business world. Art Center's Public Programs maintain the same educational philosophy and high standards as the college's degree programs. Students of Art Center at Night (ACAN), Saturday High, and Art Center for Kids take courses from the same faculty of professional artists and designers. Many ACAN courses transfer into the degree program, and many of Art Center's alumni honed their skills and built their portfolios at ACAN and Saturday High. Scholarships are available.
