Natalie Bookchin
The Intruder, 1999
Natalie Bookchin makes art in old and new media. Her work has been shown internationally and written about in such venues as ArtForum magazine and The New York Times. She teaches media art at California Institute of the Arts.
The current manifestation of The Intruder is a beta-version, and is based on a Jorges Luis Borges short story about two brothers and the woman they both desire. The story's narrative is played out as a series of computer game-like encounters, in which the viewer activates the narrative and engages interactively with its protagonists - thus becoming a participant in the human drama, rather its spectator.
