Comm Design 4: Identity Systems
The proposal for my final project was to take a print I was doing in Brad Bartlett’s Communication Design 4 class and make it an interactive
piece; in this case, a media wall. Ideally this processing sketch would be projected on a wall at a gallery or museum.
The entity I chose for my Communication Design class was Los Angeles Nomadic Division. The idea is that the flashing black nodes that make up the letter forms are derived from the shape of my logo. In essence, its hundreds of those shapes making up typographic tools to map out regions in Los Angeles. The orange nodes are made up of all the art museums in LA, the violet ones are cultural entities in LA and the bigger blue ones are the actual cities of Los Angeles.
The red drag behind that follows the cursor is to imply that someone would be moving across the media wall and they would be touching these nodes to get information from them.
