Noted for his influential lighting techniques and unique approach to art direction and design, photographer/director and creative director Matthew Rolston has been strongly identified throughout his career with the revival and modern expression of Hollywood glamour. He was “discovered” by Andy Warhol for Warhol’s groundbreaking Interview magazine, where Rolston began a successful career in photography. Soon after, he began shooting covers and editorial assignments for influential publications such as “Rolling Stone,” “Harper’s Bazaar,” “Vogue,” “Vanity Fair,” “W,” “GQ,” “Esquire,” “The New York Times Magazine” and “O, the Oprah Magazine.” Extending his vision into the moving image, Rolston began conceiving, writing and directing film projects and has since completed over 200 music videos, 100 television commercials, thousands of photo shoots (over 100 covers for Rolling Stone alone) and countless advertising campaigns. Rolston’s work has expanded into creative direction, experiential design, branding, product design, new media ventures, fine art and publishing.
