The Marc and Eva Stern Foundation
“Jeunes Talents” is a wonderful program that unites several of our passions: youth, the arts, Los Angeles, France, and bringing people closer together across cultures.
The first collaboration of its kind between France and the United States, “Jeunes Talents” will bring nine outstanding fine arts students from Los Angeles to France, where each will create two paintings reflecting their experience and what can only be unique perspectives on France and its rich and diverse culture. These works will then be displayed in a prominent Los Angeles gallery and proceeds of any sales will go to a charity of the artists’ choice.
We can’t think of a better or more exciting way to honour the extraordinary friendship and affection we have found in France over the past five years.
Through our Foundation, we have long been major supporters of the LA Opera, as well as other civic, arts and educational initiatives. Los Angeles is a vibrant and optimistic city where anyone can become anything and the arts run in the city’s blood. This program is an opportunity for us to help share some of that with France, and some of France, in all its grandeur, with Los Angeles.
We are grateful to the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles and the French Government Tourist Office for their leadership and creativity, and we eagerly await the first showing les jeunes talents.
Merci,
Marc and Eva Stern

Lionel Sauvage
My first interaction with America as a child, beyond the glimpses offered by the media at the time of President Kennedy and the Moon adventure, was with students visiting France for a Year Abroad program. Since that day I have always been fascinated by the cultural differences and similarities between those two nations. Together they have a very strong and unique history of friendship, rooted in the very making of America and its unwavering engagement on France's side in the dark days of European history. Now that my wife and I call Los Angeles home, now that that our children were born American, we live those cultural differences and know those similarities.
French by birth, American by choice, on both sides we confront ignorance, misperceptions, and ready-to-wear ideas.
Artistic expression is humanity's common language. It transcends the traditional oral or written expression as it appeals directly to senses that are universally shared. But artistic impression is also deeply rooted in our culture. What could best promote cultural understanding than a project to immerse an artist in a foreign culture? "Jeunes Talents" is a wonderful endeavor, a silent bridge between nations.

Air Tahiti Nui
Air Tahiti Nui is delighted to participate with Maison de la France and the Cultural Section of the French Consulate General, Los Angeles, in sponsoring a visit to France by nine young talented artists from three renowned California Art Schools. These young people flew non-stop from Los Angeles to Paris on board our state-of-the-art Airbus 340-300 in September and then traveled from the City of Lights to different areas in France. Their diverse experiences are represented in their works of art created on completion of their visit to give a long lasting impression of a variety of regions in this rich and cultured country. Just as the French have perfected the “art de vivre”, Air Tahiti Nui has perfected the art of flying and we welcome all future travelers aboard - to France (or Tahiti) - to experience our own particular palette of sophisticated, friendly and very personalized customer service. |
