Rebecca Cho

Lauren KingRebecca Cho is a Los Angeles-based artist currently studying at CalArts. Her work consists of drawings and paintings derived from snapshots of architectural landscapes. Cho's early work reflected tightly rendered buildings in desolate environments, while her later paintings explore the quality of the medium. She examines both the memory of spaces in addition to the progression of buildings over time.

My trip to France was a forever memorable experience. This was my first time in Europe and I had an amazing time.  The people were all so friendly, the landscape was beautiful and the lifestyle was charming.  There was a real sense of enjoying life and its pleasures while I was travelling in France.

Concarneau was definatly my favorite place.  The peoplel that we met there were incredibly friendly and hospitable. Every morning, we would walk across the street to the local bakery and buy frsh baked croissants for breakfast as well as a roll of baguette for lunch.  Our flat in Concarneau was absolutly lovely.  Furthermore,  we lived two short blocks from the beach.  I would walk there in the morning as well as in the dead of night. The town was very safe even at night.

Walking everywhere was a great treat for a Los Angelina.  I was able to enjoy the places we walked throuigh at a nice steady pace.  The overall color of the landscape in our section of France was gray.  The gray, however, was accented by vibrant colors of houses and curtains and ornamentation.

In our house at Pont L'abbe, there was a vibrant mix match of different patterns, colors, and textures throughout the house.  The owner of the farm house was a bag pipe musician and played for us at our request. He was extremly nice and had a lovely home as well as an impressive art collection. The animals that lived in his home where very cute, except his dog that almost ate us.    (But I think deep inside that dog is a sweetheart as well)

The food we had in France was amazing! When I came back home, I went on a wild search for equivilent tasting croissantts, baguettes and crepes but to no avail.  I also remeber this fish soup that is eaten with cheese and garlic croutons.  Absolutely mouth watering!

Over all, I had a wonderful time in France and wish to go there again!
