
Assembled by Williamson Gallery director Stephen Nowlin and mechanical engineer William Gaines, Anthropropulsion opened July 14, 1996, and continued through September 15, 1996. An opening reception took place on Saturday, July 13, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. The public was invited and many HPV (human-powered vehicle) enthusiasts rode their vehicles to the reception.
