BOLD: The ArtCenter Symposium for Creative Entrepreneurs

Description: BOLD: The ArtCenter Symposium for Creative Entrepreneurs is a daylong event designed to celebrate and inspire a growing community of entrepreneurs from ArtCenter and beyond.BOLD convenes a diverse group of artists, designers, entrepreneurs and industry experts to deliver a series of presentations, lectures, and practical workshops focused on the future of creative entrepreneurship, freelance studios, design-driven startups and artist-run businesses and nonprofits.
BOLD aims to be broadly motivational while providing tangible skills and specific methodologies that can be applied to the pursuits of creative entrepreneurs as they continue to forge unique pathways and strive to redefine the world around us.

BOLD Beyond the Concept Series

Description: Join ArtCenter, Kickstarter and Supplyframe for the first of a series of panel discussion on strategies for taking a physical product to market. Our experts will focus on early stage considerations including scale, market validation and community for artists and designers looking to move a prototype to the manufacturing stage.

ACBA Pitch Competition

Description: ArtCenter Branding Atelier is proud to present ACBA Pitch. ACBA Pitch is a pitch event that offers ArtCenter students a platform to pitch their ideas and designs to investors, industry professionals and the public. Our aim is to offer a platform that gives designer a voice and impacts the world in a positive manner.  As an idea accelerator, ACBA Pitch provides a “Pitch Bootcamp” to participating candidates to help them develop a successful real-world proposal. ACBA Pitch also connects the worlds of design, technology, and business by reaching out to Caltech, USC, and local incubators, to help build trans-disciplinary partnerships between ArtCenter students and outside students and professionals.

Roger Martin: How Strategy Really Works

Description: Roger Martin, dean of Rotman School of management at the University of Toronto and co-author of “Playing to Win: How Strategy Really Works” with A.G. Lafley, the former chairman and CEO of Proctor & Gamble will speak about making strategy “simple, fun and effective,” and and discuss the five choices a company needs to make to have a winning strategy. Martin is also the author of “The Design of Business: Why Design Thinking is the Next Competitive Advantage.”

Inside Incase

Description: If you own an Apple product, chances are you own an accessory designed by San francisco-based company Incase. The company, known for its minimal and functional products ranging from iPhone cases to backpacks, visited ArtCenter”s L.A. Times Media Center this February for “Inside Incase,” a standing-room only lecture and Q&A featuring company co-founder and alumnus Joe Tan, and Vice President of Design Markus Diebel. The event was presented by ArtCenter”s Alumni Relations Department and the College’s new DOT Launch entrepreneurial initiative.
