The Bauhaus: From Cult to Culture

ArtCenter College of Design

ArtCenter Professor Ramone Muñoz and Playwright Tom Jacobson will address some of the intrigues, struggles and drama that plagued the Bauhaus during its brief 14-year life in Germany. The Bauhaus turned 100 in 2019, spurring new interest in the fabled experiment including two new museums in Weimar, Dessau and a renovation of the Bauhaus archive in Berlin.

Every post-war design school has been influenced by Bauhaus teachings, including ArtCenter, but few realize the miracle that it existed at all given the turmoil within the school. You could write a play about it, and Tom Jacobson, has in fact penned a trilogy that adds fun to the chaos that was “The Bauhaus.” Plus, some heartbreaking and even shocking (true) revelations.

RSVP by April 19.
