Dear Graduating Students:
We are pleased to formally announce that the City of Pasadena Public Health Officials have agreed to allow spring term graduating students access to campus. With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases across the state, we cannot emphasize enough that the authorization we have been granted is truly a privilege that other colleges and universities have not obtained. While the authorization comes with stipulations, we are confident that students coming to campus will have a fulfilling experience as long as all protocols are strictly adhered to.
Several of the recent internal communications have outlined the specific protocols around COVID-19, security screening requirements, travel, and the service bureau process. We ask that you review the main website for specific details prior to returning to campus, paying close attention to the health and safety guidelines.
The Spring 2021 graduating students can commence requesting access on Monday, February 8. Initial requests are to be made to each department’s coordinators. Specific space access will be managed through various platforms depending on the department and space being requested.
Below are the specific requirements to request access:
Campus Access Reservations
As part of our city approval, we have to limit the number of students that can be in each building at any given time. Based on those limits we have created a reservation system to access all of the spaces listed below. Reservations must be requested at least one day in advance and are on a first-come, first-served basis. For some resources, such as computer access, you will be assigned a building and room once your request has been reviewed. To make a reservation please use the following methods to contact each area:
Hillside Model Shop – Complete the Hillside Shop Request form.
South Campus Model Shop – Complete the South Campus Shop Request form.
Computer Lab Access (Hillside and South Campus) – Contact the computing lab staff
Print Shop – Contact Tony Zepeda
Illustration Studios, Drawing and Painting rooms – Use this Illustration Graduating Student Campus Access Form or contact Bonnie Lee
Fine Art Studios and Galleries – Contact Amir Nikravan
Photography labs and Stage – On the Equipment Reservations Inside ArtCenter Page click webcheckout, then select the Photography Checkout Center. This new link is for campus access only for all equipment needs. Please follow the normal online check processes.
Film labs and Stage – Contact Joseph Vidaurreta
Sewing Lab – Contact Justine Parish
Entertainment Design – Contact Natalie Williams
Transportation Design Studios – Contact Lily Kurosaki
Gradudate Art – Contact Ross McLain
CMTEL – Contact Pascual Wawoe
We are still working with other departments to identify additional areas for potential access. If additional areas are added to the reservation process, we will send out an updated email. In the meantime, if you need access to a space outside of those listed above, please contact Jenniffer Cruz. She will help connect you with the appropriate departments to see if accommodations can be made.
The College is required to have check-in calls with the City of Pasadena on our progress. So our success and continuing campus access largely depends on you. It is imperative that all protocols be strictly adhered to.
If you have any questions please send them to ehs@artcenter.edu.
Be safe and be well,
