Art Center Car Classic ‘06: Coachbuilding, Pasadena and Beyond on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Art Center’s Hillside Campus was a wonderful success. The 2006 event showcased the work of Pasadena’s own custom coachbuilders, Walter M. Murphy & Co. and Bohman & Schwartz, along with their modern day counterparts.

Everyone seemed to greatly enjoy the coachbuilding theme, and the corral of Pasadena-built vehicles was quite likely the finest every brought together – very appropriate for this year when Art Center is celebrating 30 years in Pasadena.

Our featured speakers include Patrick le Quément, Senior Vice-President of Corporate Design, Renault; Randy Ema, automotive restorer and historian; alumnus Henrik Fisker, CEO, Fisker Coachbuild; and alumnus Ken Okuyama, Creative Director, Pininfarina.

In addition, artist Peter Maier exhibited his work which typically employs automotive paint (his work is lifelike, many assume they are photographs) and speaker Randy Ema displayed historic images and documents about the classic coachbuilding process.
