Title: Director of Corporate Relations

Description

Art Center College of Design seeks a Director of Corporate Relations to establish new and strengthen existing revenue-generating partnerships with corporations in support of institutional goals. The Director serves as a vital member of a team of advancement professionals who span development, alumni relations, board relations, marketing and communications, community relations and advancement services.

The Director will conceptualize, plan, and execute corporate relations strategies that maximize sponsorship and philanthropic revenue.

To strengthen corporate relationships, the Director will plan and participate in meetings with College and industry representatives, and may plan, execute and/or participate in strategic events.† The Director will travel extensively for face-to-face visits with industry representatives.

S/he will partner with academic leadership and other colleagues across campus to ensure a high degree of internal coordination in the Collegeís corporate outreach efforts. As needed, the Director may join in serving on Partners in Industry, an interdepartmental committee that coordinates the Collegeís work with corporate partners.

Essential Functions

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute corporate sponsorship and philanthropic strategies
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate, solicit and steward corporate funders and prospects
  • Fulfill monthly, quarterly and annual performance objectives; set annual revenue goals and be accountable for meeting them
  • Maintain a portfolio of active and potential corporate funders; handle all aspects of relationship management; set strategy and plans with company leaders and internal partners; personally initiate and manage corporate relationships, representing the College and its needs to the business community and attracting significantly increased resources for institutional priorities in a manner consistent with institutional policies and procedures
  • Establish new and strengthen existing revenue-generating corporate partnerships in support of Art Center events, conferences, and other programmatic priorities
  • Partner with the Executive Director of Alumni Relations and major gift officers to cultivate and steward executive-level alumni
  • Build productive working relationships with leaders of current and prospective corporate funders
  • Work with institutional partners to frame fundable projects within institutional priorities
  • Prepare written sponsorship and funding proposals
  • Work collaboratively with internal College partners to deliver seamless interface and relationship management to target companies and executives, and to achieve overall corporate engagement, revenue and fundraising goals
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of information on all corporate prospects using the Collegeís donor management system, Raiserís Edge
  • Plan and supervise corporate-funded events, as needed††

Qualifications

  • Bachelorís degree required; masterís degree preferred
  • 5 years of (front-line fundraising) experience in corporate relations including a demonstrated track record of success in corporate sponsorship and fundraising or related work in industry (e.g., marketing/business development, corporate philanthropy)
  • Proven ability to strategize, formulate and close $250,000+ investments from corporations, along with a demonstrated ability to steward those investments
  • Thorough understanding of the dynamics of corporate partnerships and giving, business trends and priorities, and economic conditions that may impact corporate investments in educational institutions, acquired through regular contact with organizations
  • Experience working with corporate executives, high-level volunteers and academic and administrative leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals with varying abilities, backgrounds, interests and beliefs
  • Exceptionally high level of interpersonal skills and relationship-building ability
  • Attention to detail, follow-up, and timeliness
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions, solve problems, practice hands-on management, and work effectively with volunteers
  • Excellent sense of diplomacy and tact and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Passion for the mission of Art Center College of Design
  • Proficiency in standard office productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Office programs) and donor database/prospect tracking systems; Raiserís Edge experience preferred
  • Ability to prioritize multiple duties/tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office
  • Ability to travel and to work evenings and weekends when needed
  • Valid California Driver License and proof of current insurance
