Title: Internship Coordinator

Description

The Internship Coordinator is responsible for building, maintaining and marketing a comprehensive internship program. This includes cultivating relationships with appropriate companies, maintaining the database, counseling students, managing for-credit paperwork, communicating outcomes to the Art Center community, and instructing students on proper interview techniques, resume and cover letter writing, and professional communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate for-credit internships with faculty and enrollment management
  • Counsel students on internship research and preparation including the development of self-promotional materials, interview skill development and professional communication
  • Manage international office relations as they pertain to the internship program
  • Responsible for marketing the internship program to external and internal communities via a host of strategies including social media, blogging, etc.
  • Employer outreach as it pertains to internship development
  • Research career options for art and design students
  • Develop and deliver workshops pertaining to student internship preparation
  • Manage the Dot Exchange Alumni Mentoring Program
  • Attend and assist as needed at various Career Development programs
  • Represent the College and the Office of Career Development at professional organizations and meetings as needed

Qualifications

  • Related Masterís degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years prior administrative experience involving students, faculty, and/or employers preferably in a position relating to art + design
  • Demonstrated skill in understanding student (or client) needs and connecting them with resources and/or opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience developing and presenting information in a compelling way to individuals, large and small groups
  • Computer proficiency and demonstrated experience in use of computer applications, database maintenance, social media tools and other web-based technology
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and constituencies including students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and employers
  • Professionalism in appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, employing an entrepreneurial and creative mindset
  • Understanding of potential career opportunities for artists and designers highly desirable, in addition to sensitivity to their career aspirations
